About me

Hello!

Welcome to my site, thanks for visiting!

I’m a 40 year old IT worker who is very interested in finance. I’ve been working for almost 20 years now, and I’m still holding position 🙂

At the age of 22, when I first started working at my first job, I entered the OTP mandatory private pension fund. I started earning money and a part of my salary went there (8%). Since at that time it was rare that anybody was having full salary taxed, and I realized that if I continue this way, I will not be able to survive for many years in my retirement years. So I began to explore the possibilities of wealth enhancement. I have to say that I run into countless scams (eg. financial consultants), fortunately I came out without a bigger loss. I still try to meet them to this day, because I am curious when they are trying to sell to people .

At first I got the idea that a life insurance is a good investment (OVB through Generali life insurance), and it would solve my housing problems. After years passed, I’ve been already working for a few years now and I thought I should have my own property as soon as possible. Everyone was buying their own first flat. So I also tried to get money out from my life insurance when I faced with the fact that it is possible to do only after paying for it at least for 10 years. Bang. It thought it can not go this way anymore. The low budget spending period came in, I saved all my money I could, and with a 3% interest rate loan (it was amazing at that time) I bought my first flat after 4 years.

After that, I subscribed the MOL (Hungarian Oil company) share offering when it was possible to buy MOL shares for Hungarian citizens for lower than the market price and it was only necessary to pay for it later. It started paying dividends before I had to pay the price of the share. At that moment I realized that there is a great potential in stock market.

After 15 years of stock market and financial market experience, I see that those who run the money market, no matter how they look, do not create value. But those who know how money market works know how they can make profit from it.

My goal is to become financially independent with my job, savings, and money market, and lifestyle.

There are countless English blogs on early retirement and financial freedom, but the vast majority of them are US-focused, there are some European, but Hungarians do not specifically address this topic (respect for the exception). It may not be a coincidence, as in certain countries there are high salaries which makes it possible to retire after a few years with high savings rate. In the USA and Western Europe it is possible to reach that goal in 10 years. In Hungary we cannot think about that.

It is not a popular topic in our country, as the vast majority of the population can not afford to think about early retirement (at age 40-50). But financial freedom is not only about the financial activity but it is also about our job, qualifications, goals, perception, and a savory lifestyle. The name of the blog came from playing with the word Zsugori (mean) and rich. At the same time, I find it important to note that the mean people love the money for itself, they would not pay for anything, they do not like to spend the money, they are looking at the price of everything. 😉
